What to Expect the Day of the Event?

Before the event you will get an email with a lot of information about the upcoming event. Read through it and follow the instructions for signing the speedwaiver. That will be required when you show up to the event.

The gates at the event will open at 7am. Aim to get there between 7 and 7:30am.

Find a spot to park your car.

Empty everything out of your car that is loose. We don’t want anything bouncing around the car that might hurt you while you’re driving.

You will be assigned a number for the event. You’ll find it in the spreadsheet in that email with lots of information. Use painter’s tape to tape your number on each side of your car on the doors. The numbers should be about 8” high. If you don’t have painter’s tape, you can borrow it from another driver or ask the people running the event.

Now you’re ready for your tech inspection. The inspector makes sure your wheels aren’t loose, you’ve got a legal helmet, and you’ve emptied your car. They’ll want to check your engine and your trunk so please open both for them. Stay with your car in line until it’s inspected.

I hear you saying, “Wait, what, a helmet? You didn’t say I needed a helmet.” It’s ok if you don’t own one. You can borrow one of the club’s helmets at the event.

There will be a driver’s meeting that starts between 8:00 – 8:15am. It’s required for all drivers to attend. The people running the event will tell you 1.) the rules for using the site and 2.) your worker assignment.

After the driver’s meeting you will walk the course with an experienced instructor who will explain the elements on the course.

Everyone drives half the day and works half the day. You will have 8 runs through the course – 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. All drivers are divided into two groups – run group 1 and run group 2. Run group 1 drives first after walking the course, while run group 2 works at their assignment. Run group 1 will take 4 runs and then the run groups will switch. Run group 2 drives while run group 1 works. Then we eat lunch, because we will be starving at that point. After lunch we repeat the process starting with run group 1 driving.
