SUMMARY:Street Survival - Advanced Driving Safety for Teens
DESCRIPTION:It’s more than driving – it’s about LIVING! \nThe primary emphasis of Tire Rack Street Survival is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them.\nThe students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars\, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seat-belts\, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seat-belts\, too!\nThree parents\, including Scott Goodyear\, former Indy Car Champion\, share their perspectives in this video.\nSee our FAQ’s here\nThis event is sponsored by the\n. \nWHITE MOUNTAIN CHAPTER\nOF THE BMW CAR CLUB OF AMERICA\n \nCLICK HERE FOR REGISTRATION AND DETAILS

SUMMARY:Turbo BMW –  Direct Injection Maintenance for F-Series Models
DESCRIPTION:This Tech Session will focus on F-chassis BMWs from 2008 thru 2015 with Direct Injection (DI) turbocharged engines and specifically how you can care for this complex technology.  The Turbo era was driven by the need to meet stricter emissions standards and fuel efficiency goals and so BMW engineered all-new 4-\, 6-\, and 8-cylinder turbocharged / direct injection engines.\nThis Tech Session will specifically cover:\n4 Cylinder Turbo (N20)\, 6 Cylinder Turbo (N54 and N55)\, V8 Turbo (N63)\nTopics will include how-to care for DI fuel systems and why top-tier fuel may not be enough anymore! Discussion will cover carbon (this is the ‘coke’ part) buildup – why it occurs and what the owner can do to help stave off the problem. An engine with a removed intake manifold will be on hand to allow participants to see carbon deposits first hand.\nAlvin Lui owner of Import AutoWerks invites current Boston Chapter BMW CCA members to join us for this session.\nThere will be a Raffle of a free fuel injection cleaning\, of a Direct Injection engine\, a value of $300. Another Raffle item will be a Bentley Publishers F-Series BMW Shop Manual courtesy of Charlie Burke & Bentley Publishers.\nDue to the space available in the shop this will be an intimate group of 25 participants.  Refreshments will be provided courtesy of Alvin Lui with the Seminar expected to last approximately 2 hours. If you think you might want a chair please bring one with you.\nTO REGISTER CLICK HERE

SUMMARY:Evolution Performance Driving School
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to the Boston Chapter of the BMW CCA\, Evolution Performance Driving School will be offering their autocross training program at Moore Army Airfield in Ayer\, MA on Saturday\, July 13th and Sunday\, July 14th. This program is great for any skill level\, from seasoned veterans to the complete novice.\nWhether you are new to autocross and want to learn the basics or a seasoned driver searching for a tighter line and faster time\, Evo School has a program for you.\n***Please note there is a separate $275 fee for each phase of the program***. \nEVOLUTION PHASE 1 DRIVING SCHOOL\nThis is the first step in autocross education and is required for the Phase two and Challenge Schools. The day-long course builds students skills level by introducing new ideas to improve one’s times. Students both ride and drive (using their own cars) with Evolution’s trained\, professional drivers (most of which are current or past National Solo Champions) to learn where they are fast and where they need to improve. A small student/teacher ratio insures quality instruction time.\nCombined with race proven skills\, concepts\, and techniques\, this course will improve the performance of all drivers on both the road and the track. Even experienced drivers benefit from the Phase 1 course as a refresher for those things they’ve forgotten over the years or perhaps never learned. No matter what type of car you drive\, the skills taught in Phase 1  will improve your overall driving abilities.\nNote: Two driver cars are welcome. Students will also be required to work course during part of the day.\nPhase 1\, hosted by Boston BMW CCA is offered on Saturday\, July 13th.\nRegister for PHASE 1 here. \nEVOLUTION PHASE 2 DRIVING SCHOOL\nBuilding upon the skills learned in Phase 1\, the Phase 2 Evolution Drivers School takes the driver into new areas of mental race preparation\, allowing the Phase 1 skills to be applied as second nature. Various driving exercises are conducted throughout the day to improve the driver’s visual and mental imaging of the course\, resulting in quicker lap times.\nThis course has proven itself to reinforce the importance of Phase 1 skills and transferring those skills to every autocross course you may encounter. The Phase 2 course design is not the same as used in Phase 1 and generally has higher speed sections.\nNote: Phase 2 students must first have completed the Phase 1 Program. As in Phase 1\, students use their own cars and two driver cars are welcome. As usual\, students will also be required to work course during part of the day.\nPhase 2\, hosted by Boston BMW CCA\, is offered on Sunday\, July 14th.\nRegister for Phase 2 here.\n  \nEVOLUTION CHALLENGE SCHOOL\nHave you taken Phase 1 and Phase 2? Have you got some autocrossing seat time under your belt and reached a place where shaving time on course seems to be impossible? Are you trying to keep up on your looking ahead and thinking ahead? The Challenge school is for you!\nThe Challenge school forces students to combine everything they have previously learned\, but on a longer\, quicker\, national style\, real world autocross course\, complete with quick slaloms and hard “shut downs”. Our goal is to drive home the Phase 1 and Phase 2 concepts and make sure you still are using them while increasing the length of time on course. In addition\, you will receive instant feedback and one on one training\, this time from a slightly different perspective. This school has different meaning for every person that takes it. Come with an open mind and the willingness to try things you normally would have left at home.\nWe want everyone to drive at 10/10ths and we will encourage it!!!\nChallenge School\, hosted by Boston BMW CCA\, is offered on Sunday\, July 14th.\nRegister for Challenge School here.

They will understand why they should always wear their own seat-belts\, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seat-belts\, too!\nCLICK HERE FOR REGISTRATION AND DETAILS

SUMMARY:Autocross Series
DESCRIPTION:The 2018 Autocross Series is open to Boston Chapter BMW CCA members. If you are not a member of the Boston Chapter BMW CCA\, you may join for only $48 per year. If you are a BMW CCA member\, you may add the Boston Chapter to your current membership.\nPlease be sure to read the rules prior to attending an event.\nRegistration\nThe charge for each Autocross event is $50.You must register for each event separately. After you are accepted for the event\, you will be sent an Acceptance email\, which will also contain payment details. The Boston Chapter will be using PayPal to accept payment for this event. Payment for each event is due as soon as the PayPal request is received. Failure to pay within a reasonable timeframe will result in your registration cancellation so waitlisted drivers would be given an opportunity to participate. If you have to cancel an event\, please give us as much notice as possible so waitlisted drivers can have an opportunity to participate. There will be no refunds under any circumstances.\n\nFor more information\, please see Eligibility and Registration.\nEvent Management\nWe will have a new course for every event. Mandatory Drivers’ meeting starts ~ 8:00 am. Miss the Driver’s meeting\, and you cannot run.\nTwo run groups will again be the format for 2018.  We will have a half-hour lunch break and you will have the option to order (cash only) a sub for $8 and a soda or water for $1 the morning of the event.\nTech Inspections\nAll competitors will need to pass a Tech Inspection. However\, every driver will have a choice: New or casual competitors in either BMWs or other makes will be able to tech as usual. The morning of EACH event get into the Tech line and have your car teched. Or\, for more serious competitors there is a process which will lead to an Annual Tech sticker.\nIf a BMW driver wishes to qualify for the season’s championship within their respective classes\, they will need to complete and turn in an Inspection and Modifications Form (IMF). The IMF will need to be completed and brought to the first event. The IMF includes a full disclosure of modifications\, a calculation of points\, and intended autocross class.\nAutocross staff will give the car a tech inspection\, successful completion of which will result in a 2018 Tech Sticker. After you have your AnnualTech Sticker\, no further tech inspection will be needed for the season (we reserve the right to conduct random inspections). SUMMARY:2018 90-Minute Karting Enduro
DESCRIPTION:Do you have what it takes to run a 90-minute kart race? Our third outdoor karting event of the season will be a team endurance event.  Fifteen teams of 3 or 4 drivers will compete for outdoor bragging rights. There will be 7 mandatory pit stops\, but their timing and the scheduling of driver changes is determined by each team. The objective is to run fast\, run clean\, and not get hung up in pit lane for too long.\nEverything is bigger and faster at the X1 Outdoors track in East Bridgewater\, MA.  We will be running our event on the Grand Prix Circuit which is nearly 1 mile long.  The karts are also more powerful and can reach speeds in excess of 50 mph.  While this may not seem fast in the luxurious confines of your “Ultimate Driving Machine”\, sitting a couple of inches from the ground with no suspension\, you’ll definitely become one with the kart – and those corners will come up on you really fast!\nThis is real wheel-to-wheel racing without the expense of maintaining your own club race car\, and the g-forces exceed anything you’ll experience at a driving school or autocross.  These open-wheel racing karts offer a great way to learn about car control.  You can see exactly where the wheels are pointed\, and then compare their location with what direction the kart actually ends up going.  Then\, your next time around the track\, you can alter your line and see how the kart responds to your new inputs.\nBest of all\, you need only arrive and drive – be 18 years old and have a valid drivers license  You can certainly bring your own full-face helmet or driving suit if you own them\, but if you don’t\, X1 Outdoors provides all the necessary equipment.  For safety sake\, be sure to wear closed-toe shoes.\nSo plan to join the fun this Summer and Fall on the same track that professional kart racers drive in their shifter karts at speeds exceeding 100 mph.  If you wish to learn more about the X1 Outdoors facility\, what they like to call the “gold standard of kart racing venues”\, go to their website at X1outdoors.com.\n\nYou may register either individually or as a team. If you register individually\, you will be placed on a team with 3 other registrants. If you register as a “team captain”\, you will be asked to specify the 2 or 3 other members of your team.\nHere are the details:\n· The event will be held at X1 Outdoors in East Bridgewater\, MA and will run on their Grand Prix Circuit. For more information about the facility (including directions)\, visit their website at X1outdoors.com.\n· Arrive promptly at 1:30 p.m. to sign waivers\, weigh in\, hear the safety briefing\, and have your team assigned a weight for the race.\n· Since we are only guaranteed 15 teams\, sign up early to ensure you secure a place on the starting grid.\n· You may register for $80 as an individual and be assigned to a 4-driver team\, or register as a “team captain” for $300 and specify the 2 or 3 other drivers on your team.\n· Practice will begin at 2:30 p.m.\, and the race itself will commence at approximately 3:00 p.m.\, with the winner being the team that completes the most laps in 90 minutes.\n· Should we have severe weather in the morning\, please call 508-350-1000 to confirm that the event will still take place.  If Mother Nature forces us to cancel\, we will re-schedule later this summer\, and anyone unable to make the new date will receive a full refund.\n· CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY: Other than if we are forced to cancel the event due to severe weather\, in order to receive a refund of your entry fee\, you must cancel ten days prior to the event AND we must find another driver to take your spot in the event. All cancellations requiring a refund will be charged a $10 processing fee regardless of when they are received.
