Judges Wanted
It appears that this year's concours will be very large and we need judges!
Without judges the event can not continue to grow. Even though you are a judge you are still allowed to enter the show. We make sure you are not judging your own car or class.
The tech session will teach you the ins and outs of where to look and how to be a judge. It will also show you the new score sheets and how to use them.
The class will be scheduled once we have a list of those interested. Please email desousa@boston-bmwcca.org if you are interested.
Judged Classes
The Concours d'Elegance was originated on cars being judged on cleanliness and condition. We pride ourselves on making our BMWs appear the best that they can.
The common misconception is that only "show cars" can enter this competition, this is false many every day drivers have entered and have succeeded. The car just needs to be clean and the best way to learn how is to get a copy of the judging sheets and clean based on that so you don't forget anything.
The cars are divided into classes depending on the areas that you would want judged.
- Casual Class
- Interior - Exterior
- Clean Class
- Interior - Exterior - Trunk
- Super Clean Class
- Interior - Exterior - Trunk - Engine Compartment
- Concours
- Interior - Exterior - Trunk - Engine Compartment - Undercarriage
Clean and Super Clean will be divided into an early and late division.
Each division will have about the same number of cars to equalize the competition. The split into early and late will be decided once registration has closed. The split year will be announced at the mandatory Entrants Meeting.
There is no split between early and late cars for the Casual Class or the Concours Class.
The Show and Shine cars are not judged. The winners of each of these two classes will be decided by a People's Choice ballot.
Handicap Points
Handicap points based on years and mileage will be given for Casual, Clean and Super Clean classes only.
- Year Points
- Points will be awarded one for every year from the cutoff point determined in the class. For Example: If the cutoff point is determined to be 1993, and your car is a 1988 then you would receive 1993-1988 = 5 Years = 5 points
- Mileage Points
- Points will be awarded on the basis of 1 point for every 10,000 Miles (maximum of 10 points)
- Maximum Points
- The maximum points combined for years and mileage is 25 points
Please note the Concours class does not have any handicap points.
Kimball Farm
Kimball farm is truly a great place to hold this type of event. It has a great assortment of things to do and keep everyone entertained.
Check out www.kimballfarm.com for more info
It has a great field that can hold up to 500 cars! It will be a long time before we will outgrow this location. It is a large flat field that lets the cars have enough room to spread out. The most important feature in making our decision was that it is a great family environment. There is something for everyone to do and be happy doing it.
Besides such a great field look at what else it has to offer
ICE CREAM - Since 1939 and over 40 fantastic flavors. A favorite gathering place for ice cream lovers.
BUMPER BOAT POND - 6000 sq. ft. of bumper boat excitement, with cascading waterfalls and the Forbidden Mine.
MINI GOLF - Come join the fun at A 36 hole adventure style miniature golf course!
9 HOLE PITCH & PUTT GOLF COURSE - Play on full size lighted, professionally maintained greens.
LUNCHEON GRILL - Choose from great food such as Cesar Salad, Chicken Sandwichs, Burgers, Lobster Rolls, Veggie Burgers and more
CAFÉ BAR - The Cafe bar offers coffee, espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate, bagels, croissants, chowders, soups and a wonderful variety of homemade pastries. The pastry chef bakes from scratch and is always coming up with something intriguingly different, so you will have to stop by and see what's new.
Kimball Farm will be providing all entrants a discount on the Gimme 5 see registration information
Non Judged Classes - Show & Shine
Show and Shine Competition Class
The Show and Shine Competition is the fastest growing part of our event. You will be sure to see all types of BMWs. The turner groups have been asking for special awards for their groups and this year we have them. We will be providing awards for the following categories.
AWARD NAMES
Best Modified exterior BMW
Best Race Prepared BMW
Most Exotic BMW
Best modified Interior BMW
Most Original BMW
Best Vintage BMW
Each of the awards will be determined by a People's Choice ballot.
Vintage Class
This class has been combined with the Show and Shine competition. Vintage Cars will be part of the Display class and will have the opportunity to win "Most Original BMW" and "Best Vintage BMW". The purpose of these awards are to bring out those rare BMWs that people have and get them to a place where enthusiasts like us and come to appreciate them and get some great pictures. We will have a separate ballot just for the Vintage cars.
These cars will not be judged. If a vintage car owner wants their car judged they could enter any of the regular judged classes. Please pass on the word to any vintage car owner to attend this event and join us.
Best Z Series of 2007 Award
This awards is to promote a specific model each year. Each year the Concours committee selects a specific type or class of BMW that they feel should be highlighted. This year we have chosen the Z series. Any Z car that has entered the event is eligible to win. This includes any Z1, Z3, Z4, M Roadster, M Coupe. Anything that is built off of the Z design platform. The car must have originated as a Z car to be eligible, No replicas allowed.

Derek's 10 Helpful Tips to newcomers:
- Be prepared to clean at the event. The car will get dirty on the ride to the show.
- When cleaning focus on only one area at a time not the whole car.
- Judge your own car before you come to the show, the judging sheet is a great tool and resource.
- Arrive early, the earlier you arrive the more time you have to clean.
- Take everything out of the car including change, CDs, and maps everything must be empty.
- Empty the ashtrays and check the Gas Compartment a lot of people seem to miss that.
- Don't try and cram everything into one day, you will go nuts.
- If you are unsure of what to clean or how to clean it, contact me I am glad to help.
- Ask any questions you have!
- Clean!!!
