Would you like a picture of your car to be seen by thousands Boston Chapter members?
A published picture of your car, that you can show to Mom, your spouse, your Service
Technician? My car was in the Boston Bimmer, yours could be too.
It's also fun to show your taste in cars to the entire world by placing a picture
of your car on the Boston Chapter's web site! Add your car's URL to your email signature!
Mention your car's URL to friends, to Mom, to your mechanic!
The chapter newsletter and this web site are always in need of more pictures! There
are two ways your picture can be featured.
Your Car Gets Its Own URL
Every car picture submitted by a Boston Chapter member will be featured in
the Your Car section on the web site.
For placement in the Your Car section of the web
site, the image should be a color JPEG file saved at medium or
high quality. The photo should be a minumum of 500 pixels wide.
Feel free to send the highest resolution your scanner can produce. If you get your
film developed with a Kodak Photo CD, you may send the .PCD files. You may also
send the JPEG files from a Kodak Picture Disk floppy. Please do not send Windows
Bitmap (.BMP) files!
The Boston Bimmer Cover
Your car's photo could even run as the front page of the Boston Bimmer! For
a Boston Bimmer cover shot you may prefer to let us do the scanning. Send
the photo to the Boston Chapter post office box. Enclose a self addressed stamped
envelope if you want your photo returned. Remember that starting with the February
1999 issue, the Boston Bimmer's cover is in color.
If you want to scan the photo yourself, make sure that you scan at high resolution
(a 3x5 photo should be scanned at 600 dpi) and saved as a high quality JPEG or TIFF
image. If in doubt, send the highest resolution your scanner can produce.
Do not send Windows Bitmap (.BMP) files. Do not send the JPEG files from a Kodak
Picture Disk floppy or from a Kodak Photo CD. The resulting file may be at least
15 megabytes. If you don't have a convienient way to send that much data, please
contact Webmaster
You may email the image itself or a pointer to the image, which can be located on
a web site or ftp server.
There is no guarantee that your photo will be selected for the cover of the Boston
Bimmer. The cover photo is the decision of the Editor in Chief. The Editor
likes to run cover photos of BMWs. Your picture is more likely to be used for the
cover if it is composed as "portrait" format (the width is smaller than
the height). If your picture is not selected for the cover, it may run inside.
Instructions
When you send us the picture, don't forget to include
- Your full name and
BMW CCA membership number
- The model and year of your BMW
- A couple of sentences on what makes your car special
- Time and date (if known) that the picture was taken
- The photographer's name
- Photo location information
Submissions that don't include all of this information can be rejected. Look at
the current Your Car pages for examples of things you can say about your car.
