| | Has anyone traveled several hundred miles to get a rare vehicle you want in a specific condition, color, miles, etc? I really want to get a 330i ZHP manual, with black leather, preferably silver cube trim, low miles, one owner. Theres a nice one in Kentucky that I found online being sold privately. I would consider flying out there to pick it up. I just don't know if this is a good or a bad idea. I'm a paperwork fanatic and like to cover all bases and situations before they happen. Other than making sure all the documents are there and making sure the conversations with the seller give me a good gut feeling that he's sincere, what else could I do to make sure I'm doing the right thing? Would there happen to be anyone out there who could provide any input on this subject? |

| | I purchased my E36 M3 from a small dealer in Jacksonville, FL. I live in CT. Little back story: I was saving up to purchase a house. When I realized how expensive the CT market was and where the real estate market was going, I decided I wanted to buy a car instead. One Sunday night, went up on Autotrader found a car that looked good. Ended up flying down Friday that week and driving it back to CT by Saturday. If the car has all records, that is definitely a good sign. Definitely get a Pre-Purchase Inspection!!! I used a BMWCCA contact in the Jacksonville chapter and she provided a reputable shop. Shop gave the car a once over and gave the green light. It really was a great experience! There is nothing like a thousand mile test drive. Good luck! |

| you can always do some paperwork via overnight fedex. its not a bad idea at all seeing that they have the car you want. they only downfall is that you cant SEE the car in person before you get there.

| | Thanks for the replies. Is there an official BMW pre purchase inpsection? Is there anything I should ask them to look at specifically? I know that control arm bushings are known to blow out after a short time. |
