It would be great if it was within range of the T since I will be going to school and this will be a part time thing.
A Euro performance shop would be ideal but honestly any shop that doesnt just do brakes and basic stuff would be great. Fabrication of race cars and performance kits is what I am really trying to get into so any shops that would do that sort of things is what I am trying to find.
Any body know any places?

appraisal in Oakland Calif. area

Hi,

I am looking for an appraiser in the oakland california Rockridge area. It appeared to have lost control while heading north and wound up in the brush on a the hilly part of the southbound side. Silver 540i, unknown year (as I was watching my driving more then the car.)

Anyhow, I stopped and told the Townsend officer on the scene that "I'm a BMW Car Club of America member and friend of BMW drivers. If the driver is still here, I'm willing to give the person a ride to anywhere they need to go." He replied that "The driver seems to be all set, but thanks for asking."

Well, I do hope everyone in the car is OK! The car itself didn't look too badly damaged.

My bad, I was 5 miles or so further south when I recalled that the crew flatbedding the car out probably doesn't know enough to use the tow hook in the trunk tool kit, and I should have offered mine to give them one to tie down each end of the car. When I had to have my own E39 towed from home when the cyclonic separator valve failed, I borrowed a 2nd tow hook from my E28 and got the job done right. I think I'll pick up a couple of spares and throw them in the boot so both cars always have one for each end in case something like that ever happens again. I'd hate to think the tow crew would unknowingly do damage to the 540's aluminum rear suspension bits. :(

New Guy to the forum

Hi everyone im Rob and im from Milton,Ma. I'm still somewhat partial to the old site but the new one does have some interesting features! I'm trying to be as flexible about this as possible! Change is good I suppose.

Introduction

Introducing myself... I'm Tom Winston, live in Charlestown, MA, own a few BMW's, have tools, want to become more active in the Boston Chapter, have fabrication skills and access to welder, machine shop, CNC, bender (for cages), etc. Currently part owner in a 2002 widebody track car and currently caging an e21 that will be my DD.

If anyone ever needs a hand, needs any pre 1990 parts (e30, e21 or 2002) or wants to go for a drive let me know! (that sounded like a personal) :D

I work in the prudential building at a pretty fast paced job so i don't have days but I do have weekends 90% dedicated to the addiction

So I'm cooking and can hear the cartoon playing on the TV in the living room...

Some (gawd awful) Disney show (Phineas and Pferb or something). There is a girl who is feigning interest in auto racing because the driver is cute. The boy is talking about how great this race is. The girl says, "And it's so interesting. First they turn left. Then they turn....." and the conversation trails off to nothing.
Got a chuckle out of that. Of course, given that I have a daughter, I didn't love the sex role stereotypes. I have hoping of sharing track days with her in a decade or so.

Anyone get the cordless orbital buffer from Bav Auto?

My truly excellent wife got me the cordless orbital buffer from Bav Auto for X-Mass. This year's party was great, and I personally rather liked putting on a jacket. I'm interested in hearing if anyone else has other preferences.

If you haven't been to a holiday party, you really should go. The food this year was fantastic, the (cash) bar kept up with demand and made great drinks (mmmm Martini), and there was a lot of great stuff in the silent auction (all proceeds to the Jimmy Fund). I know its a long time to next year, but now is the time to influence future events!

radio display is dim

What can I do about the radio display on my '96 328 convert. I'm still trying to find a decent place to stick it. Currently, I'm using the suction cup mount and have it stuck just under the rearview mirror. Unfortunately, this means I have two wires hanging down (power and antenna). I know I could work the wiring through the moldings but I haven't yet because I'm not convinced this is the permanent location for the unit. Does anyone else have one and if so, have you found a more user friendly but less conspicuous location?

Thanks goes out to Greg S

This web site has been one of the best car club web sites I've made use of over the last few years. Greg did a great job producing a quality site - many kudos to you, Greg!

The new site looks good, too. The same good stuff, but slightly different. Looks like the quality web experience will continue with Jim D.

Alright!
