A lot of this had to do with the new front suspension. It seemed like they put a lot of time and money into the development of the E90 based race cars.

Suspension clinic event at Wagner BMW yesterday

I just want to thank all involved in this event yesterday. In particular, big thanks to Lance Mitchell (the service manager) for putting it on. The management there also deserves thanks for providing the venue, the staff, the lunch, and the VERY generous "door prizes" they gave out. Wow! That was not expected by me; I was thrilled enough just to get a good look at my car from a dead squirrel's point-of-view. :)

The 3 technicians who availed themselves to examine the cars and review their findings were just great. More then just suspension, they were willing (and seemingly happy) to talk about any other issues. The one who checked my E39 with me took care of a couple of little things, like a clip missing from one of the front wheel well liners and a loose fog lamp.

Those in attendance were treated to much eye candy brought by others. No problems were expected (or found) on cars like Roy's '05 M3 that came in still sporting the original cosmolene goop from the factory on much of the bottom of the car....it has only 600 miles on it! Another fellow showed up with his new white V8-powered M3 for us to pore over. Really nice, and what a cool sound.

I noticed something I wasn't aware of, that the E90-series cars have a completely different front suspension set-up than all previous 3's. No more "boomerang"-shaped lower control arm, but a multi-link set-up more like a 5-series. Seems to work, but maybe that's part of why the 3's are getting heavier?

Anyhow, thanks again to all involved, including the participants. It's always nice to be able to talk with others about the technical stuff...in person.
