I put snows on my mz3 coupe & it's amazing except for ground clearance of course (and now I'm lowered an inch and have only 2.5" left...)

We had an ice storm here in RI and I had to drive around a 4wd pickup spinning all 4 wheels trying to get up a hill. I was wondering what he was thinking as I passed him in my little sports car.

On the same day I saw an m3 on summer tires, which couldn't get off the curb because the road was crowned, when I was just fine. He was holding up about 100 cars. I could tell the road was somewhat slick...

Most bmws are awesome in snows. The M5 should have a limited slip diff, which makes it more awesome if you have really good snows (into passing stuck 4xwd in ice storms territory).

But I don't have an m5, so I can't actually answer your question. I'd go for the snows though. I got blizzak lm01, just because they were the max snow tire. They are only Q rated, so you should hold it under 100. I used to find this irritating, but I've calmed down a little.

The LM01s aren't fabulous in the dry. I will be considering a sport-euro snow tire next time, but I'm not sure which way I'll go. Passing stuck 4wds is sooo much fun, and even the sport-euro tires aren't going to be that great in the dry.
